A Casino is a facility that accommodates g a mbling activities (Lyon, D. 2001) . This gaming industry mainly deals with the casino activities. It is usually located within or next to a restaurant, hotel, retail shops, cruise shops or other tourist attraction sites. Casino contains both genders but the distribution differs in different departments starting from the top managerial position to the lower class position of the casual laborers . Gender is an area of concern in studying the operation of different sections within the casino. For instance, there are some departments, which perfo rm better with a female while others do with males. Therefore, different gender preference is shown in different departments. Social identity refers to identification or recognition of an individual with the referenc e to the group they belong , ( De Laet M 2003 ) in this case the, the casino workers. This gives a person a social class or a sense of belonging.
Purpose of the research
The aim of this research is to examine the group of people in the casino who are basically the workers referred to us as casino labors whose social identity of this people is casino labor . The paper is ex pected to cover the gender dispa rity, distribution and the perception that people have toward the women who work in the casino. In particular, the paper aims at finding out w he ther the gender disparity is in existence , if so, what is its nature and at what magnitude of different diagnosis between male s and female s and also intends to find out on the perceived effects due to disparity on the dealers work altitude. The paper also aims at finding out how casino build s a better environment for women workers and the influence on women monitoring and surveillance.
The methods used to collect this data include physical observation of the general outlook of the casino and direct interviewing of the casino dealers. The interview majored on women working at the casino under a different department. This method of data collection and the nature of the research focused on three major fields, which include the size of the casino, the location of the casino and the labor separation within the casino and in different department s . The process included a n eight -month of direct participation in observation at three casinos and interviewing of several participants. The data collected was subjected to thematic data analysis for proper interpretation. The case study was the Great Blue Heron Casino, which is located at 70KM away from Toronto.
The research conducted indicates that the female working in a casino ha s more advantage than the male. However, many women find it challenging to work in the casino due to the disadvantages experienced in these working premises .
In a casino-working environment, there is both male and female operating under different departments. The number of male employees is almost equal to that of the female . There is a gender balance in this case. However, different gender performs best in a different department. For example, men will work best in managerial section while women perform best in service provision section such as reception, in the bar, food service among others. The number of male to female in this section depends on their ability to gamble and therefore can be equal.
