Many of the projects they fund are in undeveloped or 3rd world countries. There are four values that define their mission: optimism, collaboration, rigor and innovation. Their mission is to take on tough problems and using technology and innovative thinking to help people live up to their full potential and live productive lives. Most of the awards are granted to U.S. 501(c) (3) organizations. The Rockefeller Foundation, while similar in goals, has a much wider range of initiatives. This Foundation more recently has narrowed its focus down to four main themes. These areas of focus are decreasing world hunger, arts and culture, healthcare and providing stability to low income and working class communities. The mission of this Foundation is to create a world in which all people are able to benefit from globalization so that challenges such as social, environmental or health problems are more easily endured. This Foundation supports private as well as public organizations and efforts in the U.S. and abroad. Both of these Foundations have been proven to help make a difference in the worldwide effort to reduce poverty, hunger and for agricultural stability. Both Foundations take an aggressive role in evaluating the effectiveness of their programs, evaluating risks factors, and modifying plans to become more efficient in reaching their goals.
